I have wanted to present some family photos on my website for some time. Also, some interesting facts have come up about our history. One of the most important is the likelihood that Henry Sewell of Sewell's Point Virginia was descended from a lost Scottish Clan. Anyone who has seen Braveheart knows how Scottish Clans got lost.

Also, my Great-great-great-great Grandfather was Levi Francis Sewell who was born in 1840, joined a Calvary Unit called Phillip's Legion in 1861and fought throughout the War between the States. From an original six hundred men, fewer than fifty surrendered at Greensboro in 1865. Levi married in 1865 and lived to eighty-five of age. Must have been a hell of a man.

My Grandfather Robert Anderson Sewell married my Grandmother Josephine Montgomery.

Here is what I looked like as a kid...

I'm the one on the left. Mama is to my right. I think that is Cousin Russel and Aunt Helen to my left.

Family members especially feel free to contact me if you have any good items for this page. There has been a wonderful series of family reunions out in Carrolton and other towns in West Georgia the last few years. Surely we will get some more good information and photos there this fall!

Here is the ancestral home and a story, click the house!

Garland Burns Porter
was my Grandfather on Mother's side. He published Southern Marketing and was an accomplished writer and editor. He sold to William Randolph Herst in California, among others. My Brother David came up with an interesting fact that will cause me to enlarge this page. Seems the Porters, like the Sewell came from Scottland. Probably another 'lost' clan...

This from a recent post from David:
"I went to a Scottish festival Saturday and got some information on the Porter name.  It seems that Porter is related to the Macnachtan Clan." I will post more as it comes to light. It is interesting to learn all this. Braveheart really moved me but I never thought I was Scottish in origin.
